1 Day Sunset Magic Cruise Ex Lake Argyle

As the old saying goes, “red sky at night, sailors’ delight” and there’s no better way to experience a breathtaking Lake Argyle sunset than out on the water! On our popular sunset magic cruise, we’ll explore the rugged northern end of Lake Argyle while navigating through some of the lake’s 90 islands and inlets. Our Skipper will entertain and inform with commentary on the natural history and development of Lake Argyle, The Ord River Irrigation System and the Aquaculture Industry. You’ll encounter Rock Wallabies, Crocodiles, Wallaroos (Euros) and the diverse array of birdlife that call Lake Argyle home. You’ll be delighted and awed by the Archer Fish that shoot water up at your hand with amazing precision. You’ll watch a Catfish feeding frenzy (also known by the fancier term of ‘Silver Cobbler’) and perhaps you’ll even be enticed to come back out on one of our fishing trips. As the sun sinks behind the glorious Carr Boyd Ranges, you’ll enjoy a complimentary drink and a light snack to make the most of this magic time of day. With rugged red cliffs reflecting into the blue water, Lake Argyle is the ultimate place to catch the last golden rays of the Kimberley sun

1 Day Best of Lake Argyle Ex Lake Argyle

The best (and only) way to experience the full length of Lake Argyle is on our Best of Lake Argyle cruise. This trip includes all of the highlights from our Sunset Magic trip and much more. From the rugged northern end to the vast expanses of the southern reaches and covering up to 120km in between, this is a must-do for anyone wanting to experience the heart and soul of our beautiful lake!

The bird is the word in the lake’s Southern wetlands, being home to a myriad of birdlife that sometimes numbers into the tens of thousands! Take a gander through the binoculars (provided by us, but your welcome to bring your own) for an up-close look at the many different species of birds and other wildlife including wallabies and crocodiles.

We’ll stop on a remote island to fossick for the intriguing Zebra Rock. Unique to Lake Argyle, this rock is alluring with its perfect stripes and spots that can appear to be painted on. We’ll cruise past the submerged site of ‘Argyle Downs’, the Durack Family’s Homestead, while listening to stories about the pioneering families and how they began the pastoral industry in the Eastern Kimberley. We’ll enjoy the changing colours reflecting across the lake near Monsmont Island, the best spot on the Lake for sunset! Enjoy some delicious local Ord River produce for afternoon tea before stopping for a refreshing swim (don’t forget your bathers!) and complimentary beer, wine or champagne – the perfect end to a magnificent day on Lake Argyle.

Tahune Airwalk & Hastings Cave

We take you into Southern Tasmania, through the Huon Valley and the Great Southern Forests. At Tahune Airwalk we stroll 40m above the ground amongst the tree tops - what a view, then head 40m underground at Hastings Caves!

This day trip explores south of Hobart and takes you to the Tahune Forest Airwalk – a cantilevered bridge that allows you to walk through the treetops 40 metres above the ground! Further south still, we stop at the Hasting Caves for a swim in the thermal pools and a spectacular underground cave walk.

Today’s tour takes us south of Hobart through the picturesque Huon Valley a region famous for its abundant produce of apples, pears, cherries and fish farming.

Our first adventure for today is to explore the Tahune Forest Airwalk. We head up the short hill to begin our walk along the Cantilever. It stretches for 597 m through the treetops. Enjoy the sensation of being suspended above the Huon River with breathtaking views across the treetops and surrounding mountains. We have time to explore and enjoy more walking here at Tahune. We can take on a longer walk (45mins) to experience the “Swinging Bridges”. With a 50m span across the river this is another thrilling experience and makes for fabulous photos! For a more “tame” experience there is the easy 20 minute Huon Pine Walk where these famous and unique local trees grow alongside the river with some as old as 2000 years, a delightful and enchanting short walk.

We continue our journey south to the Hastings Cave Reserve. This is a quiet, remote and spectacular area where we enjoy a variety of activities and soak up the unique atmosphere. Bring your swimming gear and jump into the Thermal Springs swimming pool where the water is always 28 degrees, fed by the naturally heated waters of the thermal springs nearby. OR just relax in the beautiful forest surrounds, wander along the Hot Springs Nature Trail where the warm water meets the cool water, and also home to the unique & playful Platypus, keep your eye out for this elusive local.

We head underground to explore the spectacular cave which is Australia’s largest tourist Dolomite Cave. We join the underground tour expertly conducted by the National Parks & Wildlife guides. The cave temperature is always 9 degrees so bring your jumper along.

Our return to Hobart allows us the opportunity to make some short stops along the way. There is opportunity to stop at the many roadside stalls and collect some delicious local produce such as Cherries, Berries, Apples, Ice-creams and also a stop for a honey tasting along the way. (fruit & produce stops are seasonal and may also vary due to changeable operating hours of the various operators.)

We return to Hobart City accommodation around 5.30-6.00pm.

Mt. Field National Park: Tarn Shelf + Russell Falls

Mt Field National Park is one of Tasmania's most loved national parks. The park has a wide variety of scenic features and wildlife and offers a great range of facilities for day visitors. Few other national parks in Australia offer such a diversity in vegetation, ranging from tall swamp gum forests and massive tree ferns at the base of the mountain, through rainforest along the Lake Dobson Road, to alpine vegetation at the higher elevations.
