Niagara Falls

Niagara Falls

Niagara Falls refer to several massive waterfalls located on Niagara River which straddles near the border separating the United States and Canada. They are American Falls, Bridal Veil Falls, and Canadian/Horseshoe Falls. The height of the American and Bridal Veil Falls is 176 feet, but has been reduced to 70 feet due to rocks at the base, and its volume of water is 150,000 U.S. gallons per second. The height of Canadian/Horseshoe Falls is 167 feet, and its volume of water is 600,000 U.S. gallons per second. One third of the Canadian Falls lies within the U.S. territory. Niagara Falls is the second largest falls on the globe next to Victoria Falls in Southern Africa. One fifth of all the fresh water in the world lies in the four Upper Great Lakes – Michigan, Huron, Superior, and Erie. All the outflow empties into the Niagara River and eventually cascades over the falls.
