Itinerary

Day 1: RIO DE JANEIRO, BRAZIL

Summary of The Day

Welcome to spectacular Rio de Janeiro, home to white-sand beaches and host of the 2016 Summer Olympics!

After arrival, settle into your hotel and meet your Tour Director, who will have pointers for your free time exploration.

Sightseeing
Rio de Janeiro

RIO DE JANEIRO, BRAZIL

Rio de Janeiro , also known as the cidade maravihosa or marvelous city, is constantly buzzing with its beautiful beaches, scenic neighborhoods, and booming nightlife. Between that and its famous “Carnival” held once a year, not to mention everyday life in Rio, this city is pretty much a perpetual party. In the spirit of its Southern neighbor, Argentina, Brazil is known for its music. While Argentina claims the Tango, Brazil boasts the Samba. And nowhere is this more vibrant than in Rio. There are a few essentials when visiting Rio de Janeiro: fill up your camera with panoramic views of Rio, enjoy Rio’s culinary excellence, imbibe a fruity cocktail at one of the many beach side cafés, and take a dip in the ocean! No trip to Rio is complete without a trip to the top of Corcovado Mountain, where “Christ the Redeemer” stands 130 feet tall on the peak. This statue is one of the most iconic sculptures of all time and the heart-stopping scene from the top is unlike anything in the world. Dramatic mountains and islets rise up out of the ocean and scatter around the area; views of mountains beyond and miles of beach collide with the dense city below and make for a worthwhile trip to the top. For a panoramic view of the city and the bay, Sugarloaf Mountain is another spot worth visiting. You can take a cable car to its apex so that you can savor the landscape all the way to the top. If you have time in the afternoon check out the famous Ipanema and Copacabana beaches. You might find the beaches a little more frenetic than you're used to, but they are part of the vitality of Rio de Janeiro and it’s best to embrace the fun as you watch volleyball players, surfers, and sunbathers. And at night, enjoy the city life at a café while you people-watch – a favorite past time in Rio, where the residents are considered some of the most beautiful in South America, and even the world. Enjoy the music and party spirit that permeate the air with a thick contagiousness and get ready to launch an exciting journey around Brazil in one of South America’s most fantastic cities – Rio de Janeiro.

Iguassu Falls, in full flow, showcases 275 different waterfalls spanning almost two miles. With clouds of mist, deafening, plunging waters, and miles of drenching waterfalls – it’s an absolute must. The falls are a recent winner for one of the new seven wonders of nature, but only seeing is believing. You may also visit the Bird Park found near the falls which showcases indigenous birds from all over South America. You can even get an up close photo of a toucan here.

The wild and breathtaking city of Rio de Janeiro, the samba-filled streets and never-ending parties at night, and the charmingly distinct city of Salvador compliment the raw wilderness of the Amazon and the booming tableau of waterfall-stretching miles in Iguassu. Day 6: IGUASSU FALLS – BUENOS AIRES, ARGENTINA

Summary of The Day

Transfer to the airport for your flight to Buenos Aires, Argentina’s cosmopolitan capital.

After settling into your hotel, an orientation tour familiarizes you with the “Paris of South America” and its wide boulevards, outdoor cafés, and charming shops.

Sightseeing
Buenos Aires

Buenos Aires

Buenos Aires is one of the liveliest capitals in South America. Even New York City, “The City that Never Sleeps,” could take a lesson or two from Buenos Aires. Known as the Paris of South America, it is a place that combines Latin spice with European class. The provocative tango lives all over the city, the food is legendary, and everywhere you turn, there are things to see, tastes to enjoy, and tango steps to learn! Along with the world-famous steaks and wine you'll try here, you must experience a few others: the brightly colored La Boca district, the Recoleta Cemetery, the Metropolitan Cathedral and La Casa Rosada in the Plaza de Mayo. And if you can, head south to the pampas to get a little taste of Argentine country life and see the gauchos (cowboys) at work. San Telmo is a fantastic spot to visit in the city for a sense of the old Buenos Aires – it is packed with lots of interesting shops, eateries, and it has that distinctly European flare that makes the city so unique. Normally, a cemetery might not have a lot of allure, but the Recoleta Cemetery is a different beast.

Home to Eva Perón’s burial site along with other famous people, it surely has a macabre feel to it, but it’s also fascinating to explore on foot – rows of massive granite structures and mausoleums display occasional mismatched coffins and mazes of statues. For the extremely adventurous, if Buenos Aires is featuring a soccer game during your stay there, it is a wild, feverish event of surging crowds and energy unlike anywhere else in the city. The Argentineans love their fútbol and it’s a wild experience to be among the frenetic fans. Whatever your style, Buenos Aires will accommodate with superior style – dining, shopping, history, culture, dance, nightlife, and fun

Sightseeing
Santiago

SANTIAGO

More towards the center of the country, high-rise modernization contrasts starkly with classic architecture. Beautiful cathedrals, historical sites, vibrant night life, local food variety, and constant movement are found in Santiago, Chile. This remarkable city has become a major hub of economic growth, turning it into one of Latin America’s most modern metropolitan areas. You could easily fill a few days with all of the landmarks, museums, markets, cathedrals, and places to dine. To get a scope of just how vast and incredible Santiago is, maybe take a funicular up the side of the mountain for day or night time views of the city. The main cathedrals to see, some of the most beautiful in all of South America, are the Church of San Francisco and the Cathedral of Santiago in the Plaza de Armas. If you want to get in some authentic shopping while in Chile, this is the place to do it. While there are modern shopping hubs throughout the city, if you want to take something local home with you, check out the Los Dominicos market – that’s the place to find the goods from the heart of Chile. And if you have time, there are wineries just outside the city that showcase some of the most impressive

wine in South America.
