This guided tour will take you back in the dark ages and the story of the first hermits and monks who laid the foundations of what later on became the monastic community of Meteora.

After the end, our driver will transfer you back to Kalambaka, where you will have the time for lunch (not included). At 17:15 p.m. the train departs from Kalambaka, and arrives at 21:25 back to Athens.

"City of the Sky" - Meteora, also known as "the ridiculous mountain of Greece", is famous for the Mount Olympus where the gods once lived and the amazing Meteora Monastery. Millions of years ago, it was a vast ocean, and later the movement of the earth's crust and the impact of the sea made it a stone forest. Meteora monastery is situated on top of these towering rocky hilltops. About 1,000 years ago, there were hidden monks here. They climbed the towering peaks by wooden ladders and ropes, living in natural caves, praying, praising and repenting. So far in the vicinity of the village of Kastraki, we can also find the ancient and broken caverns of the 11th century concealed monks that remain on the steep cliffs. The legendary hero 007 James Bond in the movie has also been here.
