Blue Lagoon

On the way to the city, you can make a stop at the Blue Lagoon, for a sensory experience unique to Iceland. Release all your tension, letting the azure water soothe tired muscles and joints. Day 2: Day 2: Golden Circle and Snowmobiling

Summary of The Day

On your second day, experience the Big Three of Iceland's natural attractions: Thingvellir National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, Iceland's most famous waterfall; Gullfoss, and the fascinating Geysir geothermal area, home to the hot springs Geysir and its more energetic cousin, Strokkur. Also, the area is filled with bubbling mud pots, steam fumaroles, and vents in the very crust of the earth which gives Iceland its distinctive primeval landscape.

To top it off, you will be joining a snowmobiling tour to take a ride across Langjökull glacier, the second largest ice cap in Iceland, after Vatnajökull.

Sightseeing
Gullfoss

Gullfoss

Gullfoss, otherwise known as ‘the Golden Waterfall’, this feature is iconic. Tumbling down two steps into a dramatic ravine, its scale and might are mesmerising. There are several viewing platforms around that you can admire it from; in good weather, one opens right beside where it’s falling.

Geysir

Geysir Geothermal Area

In Geysir Geothermal Area, there is the largest geyser here, Geysir, gave all others around the world their name. It is largely inactive these days, but the nearby Strokkur erupts every 10 minutes or so, blasting water as high as 40 metres. The surrounding area is beautiful, with the earth dyed in the colours of the elements, and many hot springs dotted around.

Thingvellir

Tingvellir National Park

Tingvellir National Park is the only UNESCO World Heritage Site on the Icelandic mainland. Sitting directly between the North American and Eurasian tectonic plates, it is an area of fascinating geology and stunning nature; it is the best place in the world to see the edges of these continents. It is also the original site of what is now the world’s longest-running, ongoing parliament. The Alþingi that was formed here in 930 AD still continues in Reykjavík.

To top it off, you will be joining a snowmobiling tour to take a ride across Langjökull glacier, the second largest ice cap in Iceland, after Vatnajökull.

Reykjavik

On your third day, you have the freedom to explore the museums, galleries, and cafés of the city or take part in one of several optional activities. If you would like to stay near the city, take a whale watching tour from the Old Harbour. Zip across the waves in a RIB boat as you watch for tailfins in the water, or look for dolphins playing from the comfortable viewing deck of a larger ship.

If you would prefer to leave the city area, take a sightseeing tour of the rolling farmland, fast-moving waterfalls, and craggy lava fields that characterize the south coast.

If you would like a more active day, take a glacier hike on the ice of Sólheimajökull. The choice is yours!

At night, you will hunt for Northern Lights in some of the loveliest locations in the countryside, led by a guide who has already scouted the best possible places.
